A Bit About PAWTE

The Walk To Emmaus is a lay led, ecumenical, spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen local church congregations through the development of Christian disciples and leaders. The program's approach models after Christ's servanthood and encourages participants to act in ways appropriate for "a servant of all." The Walk to Emmaus gets its name from the story in Luke 24:13-35 , which provides the core theme for the three-day experience and follow-up.

Purchase Area Walk to Emmaus (PAWTE) is located in the Jackson Purchase Area of Kentucky, west of Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake. PAWTE usually conducts four "walks" each year at B.A.S.I.C in Hardin, KY - two in the spring and two in the fall. In each set, one walk is for men and one walk is for women. This arrangement allows husbands and wives to each have their own unique and personal experience in meeting Christ "on the walk".
